Media & Communications Officer (Fixed Term)

Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for public engagement? Join Ararat Rural City Council and play a key role in shaping how we connect with our community.
We're looking for a proactive and creative Media and Communications Officer to lead content creation, manage media relations, and deliver impactful campaigns across digital and traditional platforms.
This is a 9-month, fixed-term maternity leave position, starting in October 2025. The role is full-time, but part-time applicants are also encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do:
- Write engaging media releases, web content, and newsletters
- Manage social media and support marketing campaigns
- Respond to media enquiries and build strong media relationships
- Help deliver consistent, clear communication to our community
About You:
- Strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills
- Experience in media, communications, or public relations
- Confident working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- A relevant qualification in Communications, PR, or Journalism
