At Taronga Zoo in Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, we lead conservation efforts in the field and participate in regional and global conservation breeding programs to establish insurance populations for species threatened in the wild. We also operate two wildlife hospitals that treat and rehabilitate injured native wildlife, as well as providing best practice health care for the animals at our Zoos.

Job description:

  • Lead unforgettable events - from weddings and gala dinners to corporate conferences and unique zoo experiences.
  • Located at the iconic Taronga Western Plains Zoo - Dubbo
  • Pay Rates, Duty Officer, $28.17 per hour Mon-Fri rates, plus additional penalties for after hours, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays
  • Varying casual shifts available approx hours per week

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic casual Events Supervisor to work alongside our Events Coordinator, leading our front-of-house teams and ensuring every event is executed seamlessly — from setup to finish. This role requires hands-on support across a variety of tasks to deliver events that leave a lasting impression on our guests.

About the Role…

Based at the award-winning Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo, this role gives you the opportunity to work across weddings, conferences, social events, and unique zoo experiences.

You'll be leading a team of hospitality staff, coordinating operational tasks, managing food and beverage service, and ensuring events run smoothly from start to finish. Many events require early starts, late finishes, and weekend work, so flexibility and a dedication to guest experience are essential.

All training is provided on the job. We are looking for someone with hands-on event experience, a positive, proactive attitude, and a passion for ensuring every guest has an outstanding experience. This role also provides the opportunity to develop your skills and grow your career in the events industry.

About You…

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Excited to work in a diverse, high-performing team with a strong focus on culture
  • Willing to lead and supervise front-of-house staff, including setup, serving, clearing, canapes, and bar service
  • Confident completing administrative tasks using Event Software Programs, UKG, POS, and other systems if/when required.
  • Hands-on and willing to support all aspects of event delivery, including weddings, conferences, and social events
  • Flexible to meet varying roster commitments, including early mornings, late nights, school holidays, and weekends
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality guest experiences that exceed expectations and encourage repeat visitation
  • Holds (or willing to obtain) a NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
  • Hold a Paid NSW Working with Children Check
