About the job
Are you an upcoming or recent Science Graduate with an interest in Consumer Healthcare?
The Science Graduate role involves rotating across Science functions within the Opella organisation, providing you, as the Science graduate within this program, comprehensive exposure to various roles and responsibilities.
Your role will be to drive the advancement of complementary medicine by creating innovative, consumer-focused solutions efficiently and competitively. Additionally, you will optimise product life-cycles by developing and implementing regulatory strategies that accelerate access to new products and enhance the value of our existing portfolio, ensuring a synergy between patient health and commercial success.
You will collaborate with the Brand & Innovation team, Project Managers, Regulatory & Quality teams, and the Manufacturing team (internally & externally i.e. Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation / CDMO) ensuring new product developments align with our innovation strategy and meet compliance, safety, and stability standards.

Main responsibilities:
1st Year:
As a Graduate Scientist, you will initially be an integral part of our Development Centre team, working on the development and analysis of Vitamin-Mineral Supplements (VMS) especially gummies. You will support various aspects of product development, including formulation, testing, and analysis, while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company protocols
Research and Development: Assist in formulating and developing new complementary medicine gummies, including herbal and nutraceutical formulations
Testing and Analysis: Conduct laboratory experiments and tests to develop the most stable and consumer-friendly product. Analyse data and interpret results to guide product development
Stability testing: Develop and validate test methods using a variety of instruments and techniques (e.g. UHPLC, LC-MS, HPTLC)
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, methodologies, and results. Prepare and review product specifications, master formula, manufacturing instructions, stability protocols, stability trends, product development report, bills of materials, standard operating procedures, method validation protocol and report
Regulatory Compliance: Support the development of products in compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory approvals and ensure products meet quality standards
Collaboration: Partner effectively with senior scientists, quality teams, regulatory team, project managers, brand teams, and manufacturing & supply department internally and externally to ensure smooth project execution. Foster strong stakeholder relationships to facilitate seamless integration and coordination.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest research, trends, and advancements in complementary medicine. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
2nd Year:
Following a year in the role in the Development Centre you transition to a work as a Regulatory Affairs Associate. In this role you will be responsible for regulatory submission for new products and ongoing lifecycle management and supporting regulatory review for promotional materials.
·Regulatory Submissions: Undertake all regulatory activities to ensure the delivery of agreed business priorities and compliance of all products in Australia and NZ. Support the development of brand team plans with optimal regulatory and risk minimization strategies through collaboration with key local and global stakeholders to provide cross-functional expertise and drive early submissions and approvals in accordance with agreed business priorities
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with health authorities to effectively negotiate timely approvals and optimal product labelling and risk minimization strategies. Ensure continued regulatory compliance through the maintenance of registrations by timely submission of post-approval variations and active discontinuation of unused registrations with no portfolio value. Stay up-to-date with developments in regulatory affairs and support any required revisions to departmental systems and processes
Risk Management: Support the implementation of local regulatory risk assessment procedures to manage business risk for both new product registrations and ongoing life cycle management. Support regulatory review of promotional/non promotional materials
Quality Systems: Support maintenance of regulatory quality system to meet required corporate and regulatory standards. Ensure audit readiness for internal audits or external audits by health authorities and manage compliance with any required corrective actions.

About you
We're looking for Graduates with the following experience and skillsets:
Education:
Completed an undergraduate degree in the areas of: Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Pharmacy or related field) from a recognised tertiary institution by December A Master's degree is a plus
Experience:
Work experience across the pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or FMCG industry will be considered an asset
Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, including experience with standard analytical techniques and equipment preferred
Soft & Technical Skills:
Passionate about complementary medicine and its potential benefits for health and well-being
Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement across internal and external partners
Ability to adopt a consumer-centric approach.
Committed to sustainability and familiarity with science-based product superiority principles.
Proactive approach to self-development to ensure capability and performance
Clear and compelling communicator, able to translate complex data and technical acumen into accessible narratives.
Autonomous and entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable leading in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Advanced statistical analysis and experimental design capabilities, with strong digital literacy.
Enthusiastic and proactive attitude towards learning and problem-solving
Strong organisational, analytical and time management skills.
