The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. As an area within the department, Youth Justice is always committed to the demonstration of the departmental values; serve the community, work together, act with integrity, respect other people and make it happen.
Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 10-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.
Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.
The
opportunity
- Ongoing, full-time position based in Melbourne.
- VPS3 role: $79,122 - $96,073 per year plus super.
- Administer a wide range of stores services including ordering, receipt, and issue of all provisions; supplies; unit-supply services and domestic stores and stationery and clothing so as to meet agreed objectives, service delivery standards and timelines, specified budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and client needs.
- Effectively manage and provide leadership to a team of employees by leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes as well as modelling departmental values.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
- Experience in financial and stock management systems and software applications for stock control, purchasing and management.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising or managing a team
- Experience providing administrative services preferably within a government environment.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Suite
- A current driver's license is required due to the need to work across different locations.
- A valid Forklift license is desirable.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
