About us

Fonterra's Spreyton Laboratory in Tasmania plays a vital role in supporting our Global Consumer & Foodservice business. As part of Fonterra Australia, the lab ensures the quality and safety of our dairy products through rigorous testing and analysis. With a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement, the Spreyton site is a cornerstone of our commitment to doing good with dairy.

Your Purpose

As a Laboratory Assistant - General Support, you'll be an essential part of our laboratory team, helping to ensure samples are received, prepared, and tested efficiently and accurately. This role is ideal for someone looking to build their career in a scientific environment while contributing to the quality and safety of our products.

Responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with sample receipt, despatch, preparation, and sub-sampling

* Preparing the laboratory and samples for testing in line with procedural manuals

* Performing a limited range of test procedures with precision

* Maintaining accuracy and reliability of test results with minimal retests

* Supporting timely turnaround of testing and maintaining consumable stocks

* Contributing to a cost-effective and high-quality laboratory service

* Promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

About you

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and ready to grow. Whether you're just starting out or looking to expand your experience, this role offers a great opportunity to be part of a collaborative and high-performing team.

You can also demonstrate:

* A Higher School Qualification (e.g. University Entrance or equivalent) - Essential

* Less than 1 year of laboratory experience - Preferred

* Strong comprehension skills (reading, numerical, verbal)

* Ability to follow instructions, work under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude

* Willingness to learn, contribute ideas, and go the extra mile
