About the role

Physical Education Teacher 0.8FTE (4 days) with the option of 0.2FTE (1 day) teaching Science classes.

Padbury Catholic Primary School is a double stream co-education primary school catering for children from Pre-Kindy to Year 6 with an approximate enrolment of 515 students.

The school has a strong sense of community with an emphasis on pastoral care and enjoys a close relationship with the parish and strong support from the parent community.

Padbury Catholic Primary School offers a vibrant curriculum and we are looking for a passionate and dynamic teacher who is committed to their teaching vocation. The Physical Education teacher is responsible for providing Physical Education lessons aligned with the WA Curriculum from PP-Yr6, co ordinating a range of carnivals, liasing with local physical education networks, overseeing the class sport programme and extra curricular sporting opportunities. This position potentially attracts a special responsibility allowance.

Selection Criteria:

We are seeking a suitably qualified and dynamic Physical Education Teacher who supports the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education and has the necessary knowledge, skills, ability and professional capacity to:

• Plan and organise sporting carnivals (athletics, swimming, cross country), swimming lessons and extra curricular activities.

• Demonstrate high expectations for students whilst creating a safe environment.

• Show highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills with a successful record of developing positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.

• Show a sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and practise effective strategies to engage and motivate students in their learning.

• Demonstrate the ability to incorporate contemporary approaches to learning and teaching, including the use of data to inform practices in order to raise students' levels of achievement.

• Differentiate the teaching and learning program to cater for a variety of individual student needs.

• Commit to the ongoing development of self through participation in professional learning communities and professional development.

• Participate in school activities and work cooperatively as a part of a cohesive and dedicated team of educators.

• Demonstrate success as a dynamic, innovative and reflective practitioner who strives for excellence.

Qualifications Required:

· Relevant Four-Year Tertiary Qualification.

· Have a minimum of 3+ years teaching experience.

· Current teacher registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA is required.

· Must hold a current Working With Children registration.

· Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School or willingness to attain.

· Must be an Australian citizen or hold a valid Australia work visa.
