Mont Albert, Victoria, Australia Alwyn Projects Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

About The Business

Alwyn Projects is a specialist builder focused on deep-energy retrofits and high-performance homes in Melbourne all with a strong focus on comfort, indoor air quality, and expanding the life span of each building.

Our projects have been featured by ABC, The Design Files, Domain, Australian House & Garden, and showcased through Sustainable House Day and Open House Melbourne as examples of what's possible when design, construction and climate thinking come together.

The Opportunity

If you've seen Grand Designs, you've probably already seen our work, it was the most-watched episode of the season. Now we're pushing the boundaries even further, creating a 10-part mini-series documenting the transformation of a heritage-listed mid-century modernist home with complimentary content to attract and grow an audience for the show.

Opportunities like this don't come around often. If you're ready to create, inspire and leave a mark on Australia's building story, this is it.

About You

You are a capable and experienced video professional, and you are:

Ready to step up your career from standard video content, and establish and/or enhance your reputation as a leader in your field, building a portfolio that will make your peers envious.

Ready to take the lead and be given creative license to create your own mini series. Capable of creating engaging and visually appealing content that makes audiences want more.

More than just a videographer, with the ability to organise, interview, meet deadlines, tell stories through your craft, and create a show that leaves a lasting impression on audiences.

1. You genuinely care.

Not just felt, but expressed. Our clients' success is yours, and so is their frustration. You bust your gut to help clients come out on top.

2. You're proactive.

You don't wait, you take the initiative. You get things done and make things happen. You look for ways to do more than expected, and you always find a solution. You're persistent. Obstacles are an opportunity, not an excuse to give up.

3. You're a team player.

We're not looking for rockstar performers, so much as rock-solid teammates. You'll work closely with our high-performing team, and me, to help deliver the service our clients need most. You'll pitch in at Alwyn Projects events. You'll notice when your teammates could use some support, and you'll offer to help.

4. You show integrity.

You protect our business reputation. Every action you take is 100% legal, ethical, and would make you proud if you saw it on the 6 o'clock news.

5. You're confident.

Clients, architects and other building companies look to us as industry leaders. You're a great communicator and a confident storyteller behind the camera.

6. You've got energy to burn.

You lead with your energy. You meet people where they're at, and you leave them two levels higher.

7. You Make It Better.

Most of all, you'll be committed to delivering a unforgettable content experience for our Alwyn Projectsaudience. You'll be comfortable driving change and thinking outside the box, not just for our content, but to help us constantly improve the way we share stories and educate the public about better building. (We'll expect you to raise issues or challenges as you see them, and actively participate in creating solutions.)

8. You take ownership.

You take ownership, accountability, and responsibility, and you thrive on autonomy. (There's no blame, excuses, or denial around here.)

9. You follow-through.

You keep your word: when you say you'll do something, it gets done.

10. You're ready for your next challenge.

You're ready to be challenged with a role that gives you the variety to keep you engaged. You're ready to step out of your comfort zone, and excited about the opportunity to be a part of an organisation and a team that's doing great things and going somewhere.

The Role

In this position with Alwyn Projects, you'll take the lead on all things film and storytelling. From site documentation and interviews to short-form social content and long-form features, your job is to show people what's possible when we build better.

Once you're fully up to speed, here are a few of the things that you will be responsible for:

  • Plan, produce, and publish content for a new YouTube Series
  • Create educational video content for our suppliers and partners
  • Loop end-to-end: see the story → shoot it → edit → publish → learn → repeat
  • Join us at live events, and document our journey
  • You'll help shape how Australians see building, not just as construction, but as climate action, design and human story.
