The Opportunity

The main responsibility of the role is to manage day to day finance functions. Activities include, but are not limited to, accounts receivables, accounts payables, ATO obligations, subsidiaries month end completion, banking, financial reporting and compliance. Responsibilities are to be carried out in an efficient manner, according to policies and key deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting operations:

  • Assist and supervise junior team members on the accounting operations functions and processing including accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll in an efficient and time-effective manner. Look to add value through adoption of best practices and technology.
  • Technical lead on complex accounting issues such as acquisitions, due diligence, financial modelling, divestments, lease accounting and goodwill impairment testing or any AGAAP updates impacting SFG reporting.

Business analysis and reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, half-yearly and annual financial reports in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and ASX reporting requirements.
  • Manage the general ledger, month-end close process and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations of subsidiaries.
  • Assist with external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax obligations including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and income tax in coordination with external advisors.
  • Responsible for cash flow forecasting, banking and support treasury function.
  • Assist the team in continuous improvement. Maintain and improve internal controls, financial systems and procedures.
  • Partner with other departments and divisions to support business initiatives and ensure financial alignment.

  • Support team in their development and learning
  • Facilitate communication with other areas of the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience

CA or CPA qualified with 5+ years' experience in a financial accounting or finance management role.

Experience in an ASX-listed company or background in accounting firms.

Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and ASX reporting obligations.

Proficient in financial systems (e.g. Xero or similar ERP) and Excel.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
