Role Purpose and Objectives
This role is highly desirable due to its significant part in fostering relationships with First Nations Peoples and the CALD Communities within the Moira Shire.
First Nations: The position will hold the administration tasks of Council's first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Additionally, the reporting tasks associated with the RAP for Reconciliation Australia will be led by this position. The position will also be an integral part of fostering relationships with First Nations organisations in particular, Yorta Yorta Nations. Tasks such as coordinating the RAP working group will also be fulfilled by this role. Yearly events for NADOC week and National Reconciliation Week will be organised by the successful candidate.
Multi- Cultural Diversity CALD communities: this role will be the officer responsible for delivering cultural programs, events, and activities within our community. This position will be starting from a base level of mapping the Moir Shire CALD community and starting to build networks and develop rapport. Explore re-establishment of the Cultural Advisory Committee and oversee the Cultural funding and grants programs.
Community Development: This incorporates community engagement and involvement and building empowerment in our communities. Listening to the diverse voices and viewpoints of the Moira Shire community will contribute to a more successful community planning and outcomes. Supporting existing community groups to identify areas for improvement specific to their town or to celebrate achievements. Contributing to the Community Vision planning and delivery in line with the Council Plan review. Coordinating and facilitating community forums where required. Collaboration and supporting the Community Development team in volunteering enhancement and recognition, community transport, supporting the Local Safety Committee and other partnerships and networking opportunities. Supporting the Moira Community Leadership Program (CLP) to ensure that First Nations and Multicultural participants are encouraged.

Skills and Experiences:
To Apply for this role, please include a cover letter addressing the following Key Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated knowledge of the municipality, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples communities and agencies.
Demonstrated facilitation skills and ability to develop effective networks and partnerships with local community groups, organisations, government bodies and other internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in project and event management, facilitating community consultation and writing grant applications.
Broad knowledge of issues, trends and Government policies and priorities impacting on communities in rural and regional Victoria.
Well-developed communication skills including the capacity to prepare clear and timely advice, concise reports and briefing documents, and make oral and written presentations to diverse stakeholder groups and Council.
Qualifications in the Community Development field or related area, or proven extensive experience in delivering community development programs and initiatives.
