About our service

Dr Deb Mills has a passion for medicine and travel. She is the medical director of Dr Deb The Travel Doctor, and has been working in travel medicine since July 1988. She is one of the pioneers of Travel Medicine in Australia. This means that our practice has the expertise necessary to ensure our patients get the best possible travel medicine care. Our staff also undertake clinical research to help advance the field of travel medicine.

We believe that travel and tourism can be a powerful force for good in the world, with the potential to benefit both the traveller and those they visit. However, good health while travelling is essential for enjoying the adventure of travelling overseas.

About the role

We are seeking a full time practice manager to join our travel clinic

Candidates must have full work rights in Australia to be eligible for this position.

We have a team of about 15 staff - doctors, nurses and admin staff - many choose to work part time.

We use the medical software program Zedmed, along with Hotdoc for online bookings, and Humanity for rosters.

Daily tasks will include (but not limited to)

  • Fostering professional working relationships between our all our staff and patients.
  • Helping provide the conditions for excellence in customer service.
  • Compiling and managing rosters, and allocating staff for most efficient use of resources and in response to the needs of the travellers.
  • Supervising appointment system to facilitate optimal patient flow.
  • Ordering and managing our stock of office consumables to ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Recruitment, induction, and training of administrative staff
  • Helping reception desk on occasion
  • Ensure practice facilities are maintained (equipment and cleaning) via appropriate contractors.
  • Liaise with computer contractor to ensure practice IT systems are operational and meet requirements.
  • Overseeing systems to ensure patient confidentiality, data security and compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure practice manuals are updated as necessary to reflect current practice systems and processes

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous business management experience in a health care setting
  • Minimum of 5+ years of business management experience in a healthcare setting is required
  • Accredited training in medical practice management would be an advantage
  • Solid grounding in customer service
  • Attention to detail
  • People management skills

Clinic is close to central train station (no free parking is available). There is no capacity to work from home. A uniform is provided.

Successful applicant will need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza.
