Wattaka Café is a 100% Aboriginal-owned social enterprise offering supported employment in hospitality for Indigenous people on NDIS plans. Located in the heart of Singleton, Wattaka Cafe offers the freshest local produce infused with unique Native Australian flavours.

Wattaka Cafe is looking for a Cafe all-rounder to join our committed cafe team. We are looking for someone who is highly confident in the kitchen and also has a passion for front of house/barista and customer service.

This is a part-time position working across Monday to Friday 8am - 2:00pm.

What you will be doing;

  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold menu items to the highest standards of quality and visual appeal. Food that is fresh, looks great, tastes great
  • Ensure all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Is comfortable with café flow: prepping, plating, baking in-house, working front-of-house as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
  • Assist with maintaining stock lists and ordering and receiving of products
  • Provide warm, welcoming and attentive customer service and assist with front of house
  • Restocking and maintaining a clean and organised café environment
  • Preparing hot & cold beverages
  • Work as a team in the preparation of catering orders
  • Taking customer orders and processing payments
  • Working with the team to provide a safe and supportive environment for our supported employees

About You;

  • Previous experience in a hospitality role
  • Experience in cooking/preparation of cafe meals is required - Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing dishes
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Has a positive approach to teamwork
  • Enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service
  • Punctual with attendance
  • Familiarity with coffee machine operations and barista skills

Qualifications

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to complete
  • Previous Barista experience / qualification
  • Ability to complete Working with Children Check, Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
