Job Description

• Full-Time, Fixed-Term Position for 3 Years
• Based at Western's Westmead Campus
• $143,084 to $168,838 p.a. Inclusive of Superannuation + Leave Loading

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about advancing impactful research in Australian Indigenous Medicine? Join a dynamic and collaborative team at NICM Health Research Institute, where your work will contribute to meaningful outcomes for industry and community.

As a Research Fellow, you'll actively cultivate and strengthen partnerships with industry stakeholders, academic collaborators, and researchers across Western Sydney University to secure competitive research funding and advance projects aligned with NICM's strategic themes. You will contribute to impactful high-quality research that delivers measurable outcomes for industry and community.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Identifying and pursuing diverse funding opportunities.
• Leading and contributing to high quality research projects.
• Disseminating research findings effectively to stakeholders, consumers, and the broader scientific community.
• Collaborating across disciplines within Western Sydney University and with national and international partners.
• Presenting at conferences and publishing in high-impact journals,
• Contributing to teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.
• Supporting strategic planning and governance within the Institute.

This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity for 3 years based at Westmead campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a passionate researcher with a PhD in analytical chemistry, pharmacology, natural products chemistry, or a related field and a strong interest in Australian Indigenous medicine.

You'll bring:

• Experience investigating natural and traditional medicines using a variety of chemical and pharmacological techniques.
• The ability to build respectful relationships with Indigenous people who and Traditional knowledge holders.
• Excellent communication skills, with a track record of writing reports, publishing research, and presenting at seminars.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage projects independently.
• A history of securing research funding through collaboration.
• Experience in delivering engaging, high-quality teaching at university level.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level B $143,084 to $168,838 p.a. (comprising Salary of $120,908 to $142,769 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
