Laboratory Technician

St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school located in Devonport catering for students from Years 7 to 12.  The College is committed to creating a learning environment that fosters excellence, compassion and service in our students.

Reporting to the Principal, you will be responsible for delivering scientific support to enhance student learning outcomes. The role provides technical expertise and assistance to teachers regarding laboratory processes and health and safety requirements for the delivery of scientific learning activities and applications.

As a Laboratory Technician you will:

  • Control the storage, safe handling and usage of chemicals and associated materials within the framework of science education
  • Prepare teaching aids/resources under direction
  • Maintain scientific equipment, materials and specimens within a defined range of contexts
  • Assist in the management of the College's Chem Safety Program

Some of the skills and experiences we are looking for are:

  • Certificate III Laboratory Skills or equivalent
  • A sound theoretical understanding of the general sciences
  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration
  • Experience in the operation of a school or analytical laboratory (preferred)

Salary will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
