Role Overview

This role is responsible for ensuring ANI has the necessary staffing, skills, competencies, and organisational structures to deliver core nuclear knowledge and capability across the entire lifecycle of the project. It involves managing the development, implementation, and sustainment of ANI's nuclear baseline capability to meet all authorisation requirements. The position leads the creation of strategies and programs that enable ANI to generate and justify safety cases for the design, construction, and substantiation of Nuclear Naval Propulsion (NNP) facilities, ensuring they meet Environmental, Safety, Security and Safeguards (ESSS) performance standards. It also ensures the ongoing alignment with design intent throughout the facility lifecycle, manages nuclear safety hazards and security threats, and maintains ANI's intelligent customer capability across the supply chain. The role applies regulatory good practice, maintains accurate records of key roles and competencies, and strictly adheres to enterprise-wide stakeholder requirements. A consultative leadership approach is essential to positively influence organisational change and meet regulatory performance expectations.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Australian citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances.
  • Tertiary qualifications in nuclear infrastructure or a related high-hazard industry (highly desirable).
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience developing, implementing, and sustaining workforce capabilities in complex technical or high-hazard environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver workforce capability outcomes aligned with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to nuclear or other high-hazard industries.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and highly regulated settings, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and the ability to take ownership of outcomes in complex operational environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
