About the Role

We're seeking a skilled and safety-focused Die Setter to join our Maintenance team at our Sunshine site.
 

As a Die Setter, you'll be responsible for setting up and changing over injection moulding (extrusion) tools, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, you'll ensure machines are running efficiently, safely, and in line with production schedules.
 

You'll report to the Southern Region Maintenance Manager and collaborate closely with production, planning, and engineering teams.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Service, maintain, extrusion tooling (pins, dies, corrugator die blocks, extrusion heads)

  • Prepare tools to correct specifications in accordance with the production schedule

  • Conduct die and insert changes on extrusion and moulding

  • Perform tool changes both on machines and in the Die Store to standard timeframes

  • Identify and correct tooling issues to reduce scrap and improve efficiency

  • Liaise with planning and production teams to resolve tooling/machine conflicts

  • Complete all required documentation pre- and post-die change

  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Support safe work practices and contribute to a strong safety culture

  • Able to support the maintenance team when required.
     

About You
  • Extensive experience in a similar Die Setter or Toolmaker role in a manufacturing environment (Plastics, FMCG, Steel, Heavy Manufacturing) preferred

  • Strong technical background in plastic extrusion, plastic conversion (PVC, PE, PP), or steel (advantageous)

  • Ideally you will have a trade qualification in maintenance fitting or toolmaking (preferred)

  • Forklift licence (mandatory); crane licence is a bonus

  • Ability to read and interpret tooling and part drawings

  • Mechanically minded with strong hand tool skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Health & Safety conscious with a commitment to safe work practices

  • Good communication skills both written

  • A positive, adaptable attitude with a strong work ethic and ability to build strong relationships

  • Flexible to work overtime and on weekends on occasion when required.
