We are seeking applications for a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and experienced teacher of the deaf to head the Hearing Unit. The Head of the Hearing Unit willl manage and develop the department, its staff and support the implementation of programs for all hearing impaired students.
In particular, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following competencies:
- Suitably qualified and experienced teacher of the deaf, ideally with post graduate qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of deaf education and associated learning challenges and how these impact on students accessing the curriculum
- Significant knowledge and effective strategies to assist kindergarten, primary and secondary students
- Positive management and staff team development skills
- Ability to review documentation for the department and provide detailed reports of the review to the Dean of Studies along with any recommendations
- Thorough understanding of NCCD requirements
- Promotion and presentation of students' work and overall visual display of subject area
A salary commensurate with experience will be offered. The successful applicant must have current VIT registration.
