About the Role:
The Justice Officer is an entry-level position to a career in corporate services in the Department's eight Regions, through which the compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.
The Justice Officer - Finance delivers services within prison facilities. This role is primarily based at Loddon Prison & Middleton at Castlemaine; facilities for male prisoners within the medium and restricted minimum-security categories but also provides services from Tarrengower Prison at Maldon, a minimum-security facility for female prisoners.
The Justice Officer - Finance provides timely and effective corporate services which may include warehouse, stores, forklift operations, finance support, purchasing, procurement, stock and inventory control, working in the prisoner shops and various other related duties.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and supervision and may involve weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement 2024.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Undertaking procurement functions, maintaining accurate and up to date records ensuring adherence with relevant legislative and organisational requirements.
- Assisting in operating the Prisoners' shop and updating prisoner records on SPEND and ARUNTA systems as required.
- Liaise with internal and external staff and stakeholders regarding prison and prisoner finance matters.
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Proficiency in the use of software and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
- An understanding of Oracle or similar finance related systems.
- An awareness of prison financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Advanced computer skills including effective use of various systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, appointment scheduling and internet is desirable.
