About the Role
The WAIO business requires a dynamic, experienced professional who has proven tenure management experience and knowledge of relevant mining, and other key legislation. Working across multiple mining and infrastructure projects in Western Australian you will be required to provide key inputs and tenure advice into the development of large, strategic or complex projects in the Pilbara. This role will be based in the BHP Perth office Monday to Friday. Flexible work options will be considered.
Reporting to the Superintendent, this position requires that you can manage multiple projects and maintain flexibility to adapt to changing business conditions, work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, and provide coaching and mentoring to specialists within the team, fostering technical growth, encouraging knowledge sharing.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under the Mining Act, Land Administration Act and BHP's State Agreements, including payment of rents, submission of expenditure reports, technical reports, renewals, acquisition and surrender of tenure
- Delivering specialist tenure advice and contribute strategic insights to support the planning and execution of development projects
- Advising on land access and tenure requirements during project development phases, identifying, and evaluating suitable land access options to enable proposed works.
- Securing tenure and land access approvals for complex projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with project timelines.
- Contributing to coordinating team activities, supporting the delivery of outcomes through effective collaboration. You'll have the opportunity to coach and guide team members, while engaging across the business to build strong working relationships and share knowledge.
- Reviewing the WAIO tenure portfolio, including expansion and growth requirements and providing advice on strategies for long term tenure retention and security
About You
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in tenure and land management.
- High level skills in stakeholder engagement and verbal and written communication.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Evidence of managing accurate records and documentation.
- Adaptability in a dynamic working environment.
- Experience in a similar role in mining, energy, or infrastructure projects
