Arcadis is seeking an experienced
Principal Grid Connection
Engineer
to lead and grow a new, agile team specialising in
grid connection studies and integration
across Australia.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the
technical direction, culture, and growth
of a specialist discipline within a
Tier 1 global consultancy
. You will play a pivotal role in building team capability through mentoring power system engineers and graduates, setting technical standards, driving quality across all grid connection workstreams, and representing Arcadis in client engagements.
Role accountabilities:
By joining Arcadis, you will help shape an emerging capability while gaining exposure to

- backed by the resources, innovation, and global reach of a Tier 1 firm. Your involvement could span
early advisory, costing, feasibility studies, development approvals, impact assessments, and supporting financial investment decisions
for major developments such as:
- Datacentres: Delivering resilient, high-capacity power systems for critical digital infrastructure.
- Mining & Industrial: Integrating renewables and advanced grid solutions to decarbonise energy-intensive operations.
- Commercial & Ports: Powering large commercial precincts and enabling resilient, electrified port operations.
- Rail & Intermodal: Supporting electrified rail networks and intermodal logistics hubs.
- Electric Heavy Vehicle Charging (EHVC): Enabling high-power charging networks for heavy transport.
- Hydrogen Projects: Providing grid connection, renewable integration, and energy systems support for green hydrogen hubs and production facilities.
- Solar, BESS, and Pumped Hydro: Supporting the connection, optimisation, and operation of large-scale renewable generation and storage projects.
- Microgrids and Remote Power Systems: Designing hybrid, resilient energy solutions for regional and industrial communities.
- Offshore Wind and HVDC Converter Stations: Enabling next-generation transmission systems to deliver clean energy at scale.
- Synchronous Condensers, STATCOMs & Power Quality Systems: Delivering studies and designs that enhance system strength, inertia, voltage control, harmonic performance, and overall grid stability.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in grid connection projects (preferably in Australia), with strong knowledge of R0, R1, and R2 connection studies.
- Deep understanding of TNSP, DNSP, and AEMO requirements and proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, EMTP-RV.
- Motivated to build, lead, and mentor a team while setting technical direction and standards.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Power Engineering; Chartered, RPEQ, or RPEV status desirable.
- Interest or experience in hydrogen, datacentres, ports, HVDC systems, renewable integration, or large-scale infrastructure highly regarded.
