The role

Our Experience Designer is responsible for supporting and delivering on 7-Eleven's ambition towards becoming a design-driven organisation. You will help our design team in educating the organisation on design and design thinking; supporting on the delivery of key strategic projects, as well as playing a part in forming the foundation of UX/UI operations for the design team.

What a typical day might consist of …

  • Assisting with scoping and planning user-experience design projects with a senior design manager and/or PO, leaning on UX/UI toolkits and a design mindset
  • Assisting in running educational activities that contribute toward building out design thinking capability across the organisation
  • Supporting the development of a design culture and identity at 7-Eleven
  • Supporting in the development and execution of educational presentations and workshops on design practice and design thinking
  • Connecting multidisciplinary stakeholders and partners around key CX/UX flows, journey maps, user stories, service blueprints and other design artefacts
  • Offering thought leadership, mentorship and advice to team members and stakeholders
  • Representing experience design and championing the customer in everyday engagements with the business
  • Balancing desirability, viability and feasibility in design development
  • Contributing to the development and management of design operations (focusing on evolving a design system)

What's in your toolkit …

  • Experience in conducting CX/UX research and conducting collaborative brainstorming or co-design workshops
  • Application of HCD and/or UX research skills such as: card sorting, heuristic reviews, ethnographic research methods, reframing, affinity diagramming, A/B testing and behavioural analysis and synthesis
  • Developing wireframes from low through to high-fidelity across both iOS and Android operating systems
  • Applying CX/UX design to strategic business problems
  • Strong communication, presentation, workshop facilitation, coaching and influencing skills
  • Strong creative confidence, driving creative design and insight within a team and pushing team members to think beyond the box
  • Experimentation tools and methods for conducting design sprints, rapid prototyping and feedback
  • Ability to project plan and scope design work and ability to identify risks
  • Experience in Agile ways of working, utilising tools like Jira, DevOps etc
  • Strong proficiency on collaborative design platforms such as Miro, FigJam, Notion etc
  • Demonstrated capability on tactical design platforms such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with research design platforms such as Dovetail, Askable, Maze, Optimal Workshop, TheyDo, Smaply etc
  • Up to date on latest design tools, methods and platforms

It would be even better (but not essential) if you …

  • Have practical experience in one of the following design disciplines: UX, UI, customer experience strategy, service, interaction, experiential, product or industrial design, particularly in the consumer goods and/or retail industry, bridging digital and physical experiences for both customers and team members
  • Member of industry associations, community groups
