Software Team Lead

As the SE – Team Lead, you will be responsible for outcomes of delivery/engineering for the team. You are a leader, comfortable with managing software development and delivery, continually reviewing and improving the engineering practice for ongoing optimisation in critical areas such as quality, security and scalability while ensuring that modern Agile practices are embedded into the fabric of the operations, to support our people and our customers. You are responsible for the leadership, onboarding and guidance and mentoring of the team.
You will partner closely with your Delivery/Engineering Manager to ensure delivery of world-class software and services to our customers, while understanding the engineering drivers that impact profitability. You will engage with our customers, understand their needs and challenges, and use this as a mechanism to help drive innovation and operational optimization.
As the owner of the outputs of the Team, understanding performance and using this information to identify and implement improvements to support customer satisfaction and profitability is a key aspect of the role.
The Opportunity
As the Software Engineer – Team Lead, you will be expected to be leading from the front, in delivery, operational improvement, aligning to best practice with WoW, people management and influencing and supporting change, across the whole group. Leading by example in the pursuit of excellence in all areas is fundamental to this role.
Reporting directly to the Delivery Manager, as a key member of the team, your success will be reflected by~
- Ability to take on multiple tasks within the wider Delivery Engineering group and to proactively acquire the product, technical, market and customer knowledge necessary to independently deliver your contributions.
 - Responsibility for all aspects of Agile software development, including successful delivery of software from your teams to internal / external customers, and continuous improvement to the way we work.
 - Excellent communication and engagement skills, ability to bring others on the journey with you, and ability to influence change and manage expectations.
 - Continuously driving improvements to quality/quantity of technical outputs, practice, as well as operational processes
 - People management, helping them grow and develop career pathways, providing constructive feedback and managing expectations.
 - Your alignment with Gentrack's values, culture, and strategy.
 - Support the Global Sustainability Task Force (GSTF) for your respective region. Enable your people to engage and partake in events.

The Specifics
- Think strategically, collaborate with the wider group and plan for the long term.
 - Drive Agile enablement and continuous improvement to the way we work. Take responsibility for elevating standards and procedures, as well as ensuring they are followed.
 - Analyse and optimise operations to maximise customer delivery and reduce budget overruns. Take ownership of KPIs for the team.
 - Qualify demand pipeline and manage delivery/quality to ensure customer commitments are met.
 - Set up and be responsible for improving time and cost to onboard new members of the team, including knowledge management and documentation.
 - Strategically plan work allocation and prioritisation.
 - Manage people, coach & mentor them, be a positive role model, provide constructive feedback and help them grow and develop their careers. Manage performance if required.
 - Run Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, estimation, retrospectives, for the team and help upskill them around Agile methodology.
 - Identify and highlight relevant risk, implement mitigation and resolution strategies.
 - Contribute to product improvement and driving change for the wider business.
 - Proactively engage with internal / external customers in all communication channels, influence and facilitate decision making and contribute to creating strong customer relationships for the long term.
 - Promote the benefits of Gentrack's system to existing and new customers, and assist with pre-sales activities as required.
 - Be pro-active and accountable for adding value for customers and the team.
 - Abide by the Compliance Policies and Procedures of the Company.
 - Take reasonable care of your own and other people's Health & Safety in the workplace. Report all incidents and hazards in your work or in your work environment that may be putting your or anyone else's Health & Safety at risk promptly.
 - In addition to this you are required to carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by your direct line manager.
 
What we're looking for~
- 6+ years commercial software development experience
 - Experience in senior delivery positions, including people and work management.
 - 3+ years working knowledge of CRM and Billing Systems advantageous
 - Strong working knowledge of delivery operations and Agile
 - Can do attitude, a passion for excellence and a commitment to be the best.
 - High levels of energy, collaborative approach, sound judgement and determination to achieve with high attention to detail.
 - Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
 - Ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback.
 - Ability to creatively solve problems.
 - Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or comparable professional development and commercial experience.
