Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to apply well developed scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of Anatomical Pathology advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice to laboratory staff and clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to service delivery and improvement opportunities for Pathology Queensland.
- Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.
- Demonstrated well developed knowledge, expertise and skill in the management of Anatomical Pathology in line with the strategic direction of Pathology Queensland.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements:
- The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) degree or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of five years' work experience in a pathology laboratory as a medical scientist or equivalent role.
- Although not mandatory the following qualifications/competencies would be well regarded:
• Business management
• Auditing
• QIS Administrator
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and intermediate MS Word skills.
In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24-hour shift, on-call, or weekend roster arrangement. - Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate Manager prior to the commencement of duties.
