About the role

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Software Developer & Application Support Specialist to join our team. This role combines hands-on software development with application support in laboratory and regulated environments.

This is a rare opportunity to enter the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) industry, a sector experiencing strong demand and a significant skills shortage. You will receive comprehensive LabWare configuration and scripting training, along with ongoing mentoring from experienced external consultants, ensuring you are supported at every stage of your development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
  • Provide application support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for laboratory and enterprise software systems.
  • Ensure all software activities work smoothly with Computer Systems Validation (CSV) processes, such as change control management.
  • Develop and support system interfaces and integration across laboratory and enterprise systems.
  • Build and extend business intelligence (BI) dashboards and reporting solutions to deliver actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, IT teams, and external consultants to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Make everyone's life easier & help the company run smoother.
  • Upholding food safety, WHS, and AWRI project management standards

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in software design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server (queries, stored procedures, optimization).
  • Understanding of change control in regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Computer Systems Validation (CSV).
  • Experience working in or supporting laboratory environments.
  • Programming experience, ideally in Python.
  • Proficiency with dashboarding and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with or interest in LabWare LIMS (training provided).
  • Knowledge of GLP, ISO 17025, and regulatory compliance.
  • API development and system integration experience.
  • Exposure to food and beverage or commercial laboratory industries.

What success looks like (KPIs & outcomes):

  • Deliver reliable, well-documented software solutions on time and to specification.
  • Maintain high system uptime and responsiveness for LIMS and related applications.
  • Resolve application support issues within agreed response times and achieve positive user feedback.
  • Provide accurate, timely BI dashboards and reports to support decision-making.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with CSV, GLP, and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvements that reduce manual processes and enhance efficiency.
