About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and data-driven Sustainability Analyst to join our team and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of our sustainability initiatives. This role will play a critical part in helping us meet our sustainability goals, comply with regulatory requirements, and drive long-term value through responsible business practice.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management and Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sustainability-related data (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, waste, water, supply chain metrics).
- Optimise processes to drive efficiency in collection and collation of sustainability data points and support audit requirements.
- Prepare internal and external sustainability reports, dashboards, and disclosures (e.g. ASRS), and track progress against sustainability KPIs and goals e.g Science-based Target Initiative (SBTi) emissions reduction goals,
Sustainability Programme Support
- Assist in implementing and tracking sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency upgrades, waste reduction programs, and sustainable sourcing.
- Support the Group in achieving and maintaining certifications e.g Sustainable Tourism Certification and EarthCheck, Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA)
- Support training and awareness campaigns for staff and guests on sustainability practices and collaborate with key stakeholders to embed sustainability practice into daily operations.
Research & Benchmarking
- Monitor emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and better practice.
- Benchmark company performance against industry peers and standards
- Stay informed on emerging trends in sustainable hospitality and recommend innovative practice and technology to drive efficiencies and outcomes
Collaboration & Communication
- Work cross-functionally with departments such as operations, procurement, marketing, and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Group Data Platforms and Strategy and Insights Team to structure sustainability data within the broader Group data and strategy environment and leverage existing data systems and platforms.
- Assist in preparing presentations and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
- Clear communicator, excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Analytical approach to problem-solving, using data and logic to guide decisions
- Team oriented, with experience in contributing and working with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
Strong data management skills: Advanced Excel is essential e.g VBM, TCD, Query, Pivot, with experience of the following preferred:
Data Analysis: Power BI (report, dashboard and visualisation creation, automation of reports, Power Query, DAX), Databricks, PySpark
- Languages and Tools: Python, C, SQL, Github
- Machine learning: PyTorch, Keras and Tensorflow
- Cloud Platforms: AWS and Azure
- Passion for sustainability, and a proactive, solution-driven outlook.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Accounting or similar.
- 2 years experience in data analysis-related roles.
