Advance your clinical skills in a collaborative rural generalist setting
An exciting opportunity is available for a Principal House Officer / Registrar / Senior Registrar to join Beaudesert Hospital, Logan & Beaudesert Health Service (Metro South Health), in a temporary part-time position (38 hours per fortnight) from March 2026 to November 2026, delivering high-quality rural medical care within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Your New Role
As a Medical Officer, you will contribute to high-quality rural medical services at Beaudesert Hospital, working under the supervision of experienced Rural Generalist clinicians by:

  • Providing safe, evidence-based clinical care across a range of rural medicine settings, including emergency, inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Participating in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, emergency care and discharge processes.
  • Supporting clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervising, supporting and providing guidance to junior medical staff and medical students.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, allied health and other medical colleagues to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
  • Maintaining high-quality clinical documentation, handover practices and communication with patients, carers and the healthcare team.

You may be rostered across various areas of rural medicine and, where required, across other Metro South Health facilities to support service delivery.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient-centred care, clinical excellence and continuous learning, with:

  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Sound clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to your level of appointment (PHO, Registrar or Senior Registrar).
  • A patient-focused approach, demonstrating empathy, clear communication and respect for patients and carers.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within interprofessional teams.
  • An understanding of clinical governance, safety, quality standards and hospital policies and procedures.
  • High ethical standards, professionalism and alignment with Metro South Health values.

Beaudesert Hospital is a rural hospital in Queensland's Scenic Rim region with a rich history of healthcare that spans more than 120 years. We provide rural healthcare across a large geographic area south-west of Logan and the Gold Coast with patients who see us coming from Undullah in the north-west right down to the southern Queensland border. We offer services to adults and children, including 24-hour emergency care, maternity, mental, dental, allied health and outpatient clinics, minor surgery and palliative care.

We're a smaller hospital that offer hands-on training and support to our staff and students. As a secondary teaching hospital, we also have strong partnerships with Queensland's leading medical schools, universities, and TAFE Queensland.
