Head of Special Education Services

Avoca State School is seeking a dedicated and experienced school leader and teacher to take on the role of Head of Special Education Services (HOSES).

This role involves leading the school's inclusive education program for students from Prep to Year 6.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of inclusive education, effectively manage complex student cases, and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills when working with families and external agencies.

They will also provide inspiring leadership to support staff in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

This exciting leadership opportunity as Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) at Avoca State School begins in Term 1, 2026. You will lead the implementation of the Department of Education's inclusive education policy for Prep to Year 6, bringing expertise in inclusive practices and complex case management to ensure equity and excellence for all students.

Collaborative Leadership

You will work closely with the school's leadership team—including the Principal, Deputy Principal, Head of Curriculum, and Business Manager—and report directly to the Principal or their delegate.

Building Capability and Culture

Your leadership will inspire and support staff to build their professional capabilities, deliver high-quality teaching and learning, and foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture.

Community Partnerships

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will build strong partnerships with families, staff, and external agencies to support student success.
