About Us

LOKWOOD is a commercial carpentry contracting company based in North Sydney, focused on delivering high-quality commercial construction services with a strong commitment to professionalism and integrity.

We're looking for a full-time 3rd/4th year carpenter to join our growing team. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of commercial carpentry projects, while working alongside a team of motivated professionals in a supportive and fast paced environment.

We'll help you transition into a full time skilled carpenter role within the company—offering clear progression based on performance and ongoing assessment.

What We're Looking For

We're after someone who is:

  • Punctual, reliable and accountable
  • Able to work in a team in a fast pace environment
  • Professionally presented, with a genuine passion for construction
  • Experienced in both wood and metal works, with general construction site experience
  • Able to work independently on minor maintenance jobs
  • Comfortable working within a team and committed to high safety standards

Requirements

  • Preferred to have completed TAFE
  • Able to complete small works autonomously (Day jobs, call out services)
  • Your own hand tools and tool belt (We provide all power tools and site equipment)
  • A vehicle capable of carrying company tools (ute preferred)
  • Willingness to adapt to different work settings and timelines (commercial and residential)
  • Able to complete fix out works such as hang doors, architraves and skirtings, finish framing, maintenance works autonomously with a team to a high level of acceptable quality standards
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Australian Driver's Licence
  • Working at heights ticket
  • Minimum 3+ years of carpentry experience required
  • Must have Australian work rights for this position

Project Types Include:

  • Commercial construction (schools, hospitals, public buildings, etc)
  • Large-scale timber installations and temporary works
  • Finishing carpentry and landscape structures
  • Residential renovations and aged care upgrades
  • Reactive maintenance services (primarily for schools)
  • Our project mix is approximately 70% commercial and 30% residential

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Carry out all aspects of carpentry on commercial and residential sites
  • Work on hardwood finish carpentry, temporary and permanent structural timber works, windows and doors, roofing, cladding, decking, awnings and small-scale concrete
  • Participate in demolition and site maintenance works as needed
