We are expanding our Defence and Secure Systems team to support a Federal Government program. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced ICT professionals who thrive in secure environments and want to contribute directly to Australia's cybersecurity and defence capability.

The Role

As an ICT Operations Analyst, you will deliver specialist ICT support, maintenance, and systems integration services.

You will work within a secure operational environment, supporting mission-critical infrastructure and ensuring system reliability, integrity, and compliance with Defence and Government standards.

This position is suited to ICT professionals with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to operate effectively in high-assurance government environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver operational and technical support across ICT systems, applications, and secure infrastructure.
• Perform system monitoring, incident response, and problem resolution following ICTOA service procedures.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, including patching, upgrades, and configuration management.
• Maintain and develop system documentation, operational runbooks, and technical design artefacts.
• Support system improvement activities, technology refreshes, and service transition projects.
• Assist in the implementation of cybersecurity controls, vulnerability management, and ISM compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, vendors, and partner agencies to achieve timely issue resolution.
• Provide reporting and input into service reviews, audits, and ICT risk assessments.

Technical Environment

Experience or familiarity with the following will be highly regarded:

• Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy administration
• Linux/UNIX system management
• Network and firewall configuration (Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet)
• Virtualisation and cloud platforms (VMware, Azure, AWS)
• Enterprise monitoring and log management (SIEM, Splunk, SolarWinds)
• Backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
• ITIL-aligned service management practices
• Secure system design.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent practical experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong technical understanding of ICT infrastructure, networks, and systems administration concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability across infrastructure and applications.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain (or currently hold) NV1/NV2 security clearance.

Desirable:

• Certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, or ITIL Foundation.
• Familiarity with security auditing, patch management, and compliance reporting.
• Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
