About the role
This position partners with the City Assets Directorate to ensure all outputs align with the Council-wide Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Strategy and Framework. The primary purpose of the role is to uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, and employee wellbeing by driving safety improvements and initiatives in collaboration with City Assets managers, coordinators, and staff.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work with City Assets managers, staff, contractors, and partners to ensure safety compliance and best practice.
- Provide training, guidance, and support on health, safety, and wellbeing matters.
- Help identify hazards, assess risks, and improve work practices across sites and outdoor teams.
- Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements, procedures, and Toolbox Talks.
- Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports as required.
- Stay informed on safety legislation and industry best practice to provide expert advice.
- Promote a safety-first culture and support the delivery of the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Strategy.
- Assist with incident investigations and return-to-work processes.
About the person
The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in managing Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) operations. It is ideal that the candidate will have:
- Qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) operations.
- Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Proven ability to develop HSW documentation and engage others in safe work practices.
- Strong experience in conducting risk assessments, investigations, and preparing reports.
- Current Class C driver's licence.
