Housing Officer

About the Role:

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Housing Officer is responsible for effectively completing property and tenancy management services and providing high quality customer service to applicants and tenants.

Your responsibilities:

• manage a portfolio of up to 150 tenancies including but not limited to, the sign up for new tenancies, allocations, transfers, vacant and void properties, antisocial behaviour

• perform six monthly rent reviews, manage rental arrears and ensure remedial actions are taken to avoid losses

• conduct asset inspections on a six monthly or on a regular basis

• ensure that database is accurate and up to date; report potential problems and hazards following procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Qualifications and/or training in housing or a relevant field

• Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of the community, social housing tenants and applicants

• Current knowledge of the legal framework for social housing landlords/tenants

• Experience of housing management or service delivery within a social organisation, including support areas like mental health, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritising a demanding workload

• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills

• Demonstrated commitment to the values of SVdPSHA and The Society of St Vincent de Paul

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills

• A current driving license
