Head of E-Commerce

Position Overview

The Head of E-Commerce is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the overall online business strategy, managing profitability (P&L), overseeing marketing and sales growth, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver strong performance. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution to ensure the company achieves its revenue, customer acquisition, and retention goals while maintaining a seamless and engaging digital shopping experience.

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the e-commerce and digital marketing strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Own the e-commerce P&L, with accountability for revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leadership on pricing, promotions, and long-term brand positioning.

2. E-Commerce Operations & Platform Management

  • Oversee website functionality, UX, CRO (conversion rate optimisation), and site speed to maximise sales performance.
  • Ensure product listings, inventory, and subscription/loyalty programs are accurate and optimised.
  • Manage third-party integrations (e.g., payment gateways, logistics, CRM, ERP).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, privacy regulations, and advertising guidelines.

3. Marketing & Growth

  • Lead digital marketing across paid ads, SEO, email, social, content, and influencer/affiliate programs.
  • Develop data-driven customer acquisition and retention campaigns to maximise LTV and reduce CAC.
  • Build and manage marketing funnels, automation flows, and performance reporting.
  • Oversee creative direction to ensure brand consistency across all channels.

4. Financial Management (P&L Ownership)

  • Own and manage the e-commerce budget, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Monitor KPIs such as MER, ROAS, AOV, CAC, LTV, and retention rates.
  • Identify efficiencies in supply chain, shipping, and digital spend to improve margins.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on revenue performance and profitability.

5. Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor staff across e-commerce, marketing, customer service, and fulfilment functions.
  • Build clear KPIs, progression pathways, and training for team growth.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and innovative culture.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talent to strengthen the e-commerce division.
