Jensen PLUS is a boutique consultancy based in Adelaide's CBD, known for our integrated team of urban planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engagement specialists. We're seeking an experienced urban planner to lead statutory planning projects and contribute to a variety of creative and community-focused assignments.
This is your chance to join a small team that believes in regenerative planning, collaboration, and making a difference.
About the Role
As a senior contributor within our team, you'll:
- Lead the preparation of planning reports, code amendments, and development applications, coordinating consultant inputs and navigating approvals confidently.
- Be a proactive, organised project manager who enjoys managing multiple planning projects.
- Lend your expertise to strategic planning and master planning work where needed.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively - through reports, presentations, and maps - to clients, authorities, and stakeholders.
- Take ownership of statutory urban planning projects with enthusiasm, energy and accountability.
About You
We're looking for someone who brings a combination of technical knowledge, practical experience, and a collaborative mindset. You will have:
- At least 5 years' experience in the South Australian planning system, either preparing or assessing development applications.
- Accreditation as an Accredited Professional - Planning, and/or Registered Planner (RPIA).
- Experience with Code Amendments / Development Plan Amendments (desirable).
- The ability to work across disciplines and liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and your colleagues.
- A commitment to professional quality, clear communication, and reliable outcomes.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work productively with a part-time schedule.
Additional Requirements
- Availability to work part-time three to four days per week (negotiable).
- Ability to support and contribute to community and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Capacity to assist with tenders and fee proposals to a high standard.
- Willingness to travel regionally or interstate when required.
- Desire to stay up to date with planning and design trends, techniques and legislation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintenance of credentials.
- Readiness to provide administrative support and complete tasks beyond core responsibilities when needed.
- Willingness to take direction from senior staff and contribute positively to team culture.
Why Work with Us?
- At Jensen PLUS we're passionate advocates for better places and sustainable cities.
- We bring a unique blend of design leadership, sustainability thinking, and community engagement to every project. Our values are deeply embedded in the way we work.
- Being part of a small, supportive team where your contribution truly matters.
- Working on meaningful projects across urban and regional South Australia (and beyond).
- Flexibility to balance your professional growth with life outside the office.
- Opportunities to learn, share knowledge, and grow in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to develop a senior leadership role within our team.
- We take pride in our work, our people, and the places we help shape.
