About the role
The First Nations Clinical Nurse is a Registered Nurse who provides individualised quality Child Health Services to women, children and families antenatally and from birth to 12 years of age within the Ipswich Hospital and community setting across West Moreton Health Service. This role is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the service and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies).
They support the planning of care for First Nations children and families with complex needs and vulnerabilities by optimising their journey through working in partnership with the family. With a strong focus on universal child and family health and wellbeing outcomes, they enable equitable and enhanced access to services for all children and families. The Clinical Nurse provides contemporary clinical leadership and care within a specific area supporting the general function of the unit through the application of best practice principles, education, leadership and portfolio management in the application and role modelling of professional nursing practice standards in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of child and family health delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to participate in the multidisciplinary team to identify areas for improvement in work practices and outcomes and contribute to the continued improvement of policies and procedures.
Ability to prioritise clinical and related administrative duties, including effective and efficient planning and organisation of complex caseloads with proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
Mandatory Requirements:
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
