Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel's capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a contract management program for the project consistent with the Standard Work Process Procedures and the Contract Management Manual.
  • Analyze the contract general terms and conditions to highlight areas of risk such as ambiguities, conflicts or deviations from the scope of work. As work proceeds, make recommendations to the Delivery Director on the mitigation of these risks; closely monitor and support remedial actions and recommend appropriate tradeoffs.
  • Responsible for the development and management of appropriate mechanisms to monitor compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Responsible for working with the other Project Team members to ensure PAPL related actions or inactions which could result in constructive contract changes are identified and make recommendations on their resolution.
  • Responsible for the management of a procedure to recognize and identify contract claims as they develop and manage the timely resolution under the changes provisions wherever possible, obtaining claims and legal expertise as appropriate.
  • Maintain a working relationship with Construction, Engineering, Legal and Risk Management to facilitate organizational interfaces between those performing contract administration.
  • Provide Senior Commercial Manager with reviews and analysis of the contract financial data.
  • Responsible for adherence to contract insurance provisions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Typically requires relevant bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in Commercial Management of projects in excess of $200 million.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of contract management for multi-disciplinary firms for major infrastructure projects.
  • Skill in working and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with other project functional groups.
  • Knowledge of law, negotiations, or contract management gained through education or experience.
  • Experience and courses in pricing, contract law, contract drafting, administration and negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices, applicable commercial regulations and practices, and Bechtel policies, procedures and work practices.

Successful applicant must meet the necessary character assessment requirements to qualify for an ASIC card
