About the Role
We are seeking a permanent highly skilled Senior Analyst – GIS, you will play a key role in delivering technical development, integration, and operational support across Water Corporation's GIS platforms — including desktop, mobile, and web GIS environments.
You'll be the technical subject matter expert, ensuring reliability, performance, automation, device compatibility and continuous improvement across platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS, GE SmallWorld, Water Office, and custom GIS applications.
This role is central in enabling spatial services that support our Operations, Assets, Planning & Delivery teams, and the broader organisation.
What the role will involve
GIS Platform Engineering & Technical Delivery
- Act as the technical SME for the spatial platform application stack, applying a risk-based approach to administration.
- Design, develop, and maintain GIS platform components including scripts, automation tools, connectors, and custom solutions.
- Lead system maintenance activities such as upgrades, re-platforming, audits, and security enhancements.
- Conduct technical analysis, CI/CD activities, configuration adjustments and regression testing across the platform portfolio.
- Validate API behaviour, device compatibility, and ensure platform stability and performance.
- Apply DevOps and modern service management practices to enhance platform fidelity and reliability.
Service Management & Operational Support
- Provide escalated technical and engineering support across spatial platforms and data processing workflows.
- Translate business and technical requirements into actionable, repeatable engineering tasks.
- Monitor system performance, data integrity, and resiliency across GIS platforms.
- Recommend and implement fixes, patches, configuration updates, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support change management, operational readiness and release processes.
- Maintain high-quality documentation for code, workflows, interfaces, and deployment patterns.
- Ethics & Compliance
- Ensure all work aligns with relevant legislation, corporate policies, and Water Corporation's Code of Conduct.
- Model safe working practices and uphold strong standards of equity, diversity, and professional behaviour.
Key skills and experience
Qualifications
- Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related field.
- Substantial experience in geospatial information management and spatial software (ESRI ArcGIS, Smallworld, ERDAS Imagine, FME, Python).
- Strong experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience working with diverse spatial data types (vector, raster, 3D, networked data, databases, streaming services).
- Experience administering digital engineering or 3D modelling platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation, InfoWorks).
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Advanced knowledge of GIS technologies and spatial analytics.
- Ability to enhance business operations through spatial data and GIS solutions.
- Understanding of spatial data sources and formats from external agencies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build stakeholder relationships.
- Proactive and analytical, with strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- High levels of accountability, results focus, and a positive, forward-thinking mindset.
