Details: The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill the Senior Park Ranger role at the Murrumbidgee River Corridor and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
Murrumbidgee River Corridor
The Senior Ranger for the Murrumbidgee River Corridor (MRC) is based at the Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) Cotter Depot. This leadership role oversees a team of up to three Rangers, delivering a broad range of reserve management, conservation, and visitor services programs across the Murrumbidgee River Corridor, northern Namadgi National Park, and associated ACT unleased territory lands.
As a key operational leader, the Senior Ranger plays a pivotal role in managing and protecting one of the ACT's most ecologically and recreationally significant landscapes.
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
The Senior Ranger of Tidbinbilla is a based at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and is a key operational leadership position that oversees a team of rangers. This position provides operational support to the Area Manager and implements land management programs within the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. An understanding and appreciation of the visitor and Threatened Species recovery programs is also required including skills and experience in developing, implementing and organising interpretation activities and events.
Eligibility/Other requirements: Applicants are required to:
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration )
- Possess a manual driver's license.
- Wear a uniform.
- Work a shift roster including weekends, public holidays and evening shifts if needed.
- This position is classified as a Designated Fire Position under the Collective Agreement. Bushfire related activities, including bushfire suppression, is a mandatory component of the position. Appointment / promotion / transfer to the position is conditional upon successful completion of a nationally recognized firefighting task-based fitness assessment.
Highly Desirable:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Natural & Cultural Resource Management / Park Management
Notes: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
