Your Opportunity

Queensland Rail are currently recruiting a Specialist Rail Trainer - Structures to join our Asset Training Delivery team in a fulltime permanent position. This position can be based out of any of our QLD depots, however, will involve frequent travel to North QLD and Regional Depots.

In this position you will prepare and deliver technical specialist rail training and associated assessment (both classroom and field-based) and support activities to ensure employees and contractors are safe, competent to perform their role, and compliant with legislative, regulatory and enterprise requirements.


Key Responsibility:

  • Deliver training and assessments aligned with competency frameworks, qualifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the design and maintenance of compliant learning resources.
  • Assess learner competency using approved methods and report outcomes to relevant bodies.
  • Maintain accurate training and assessment records in LMS and other systems.
  • Promote modern learning practices, including the 70:20:10 model and innovative solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with managers and learners to support continuous learning.
  • Maintain professional and industry competence as a trainer and Structures Inspector.


About you:

  • Hold a Certificate II in Rail Structures and Certificate III in Civil Construction.
  • Experienced in timber bridgework; rail experience is desirable.
  • Skilled in planning and delivering effective training aligned with compliance and client needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Structures within the rail industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, consultation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-organised with the ability to implement training and assessment plans effectively.
  • Knowledgeable in AQTF, adult learning principles, and RTO training processes.
  • Proficient in using PC applications, corporate databases, and records management systems.
