The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.
Why this Role?
The role of Senior Education Officer (EOSD) is offered on a Temporary Full-time basis, from January 2026 to 11 December 2026 unless otherwise determined.
You will play an important role in building capability with school leaders to strengthen students' knowledge and skills to form healthy, safe relationships in Far North Queensland.
The Far North Queensland Education Futures Institute is looking for an experienced teacher who is highly skilled in using curriculum, national professional standards for principals and/or teachers and a data-informed approach to strengthen capability of school leaders and teachers to lead and implement quality teaching of consent and respectful relationships education.
The consent and respectful relationships education capability project will contribute to system and school staff capability to:
- Deliver consent and respectful relationship education aligned to school improvement priorities and performance planning
- Plan and deliver effective and differentiated pedagogical approaches appropriate to consent and respectful relationships education aligned to the Australian Curriculum v9, particularly the health and physical education curriculum
- Communicate with parents and the wider school community, including building support for schools' chosen approaches to implement consent and respectful relationships education.
Areas Of Focus For This Project Include
- Designing, delivering and monitoring strategies to help school leaders plan and implement effective consent and respectful relationships education in schools. This includes facilitating change and providing training and support for system and school leaders, teachers and other school staff, both in-person and online, in groups and individually, to ensure effective school-wide implementation of consent and respectful relationships education
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide professional development, guidance and support to school leaders and teachers on respectful relationships education delivery aligned to statewide frameworks, procedures and processes, and the required curriculum for all students
- Supporting school-based processes for ensuring and maintaining psychological safety for school staff and students
Travel to different locations will be required as part of this role.
