School Maintenance Officer

We are seeking an experienced School Maintenance Officer for an immediate start to join our dedicated team at Georges River Grammar School in Georges Hall, NSW. In this full-time position, you will assist the team with a diverse range of maintenance and operational duties at the School.

About the Role:

Taking direction from the Maintenance Team Leader and Senior Leadership Team, the Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the school's facilities are maintained to a high standard, safe, and fully operational. This role involves a variety of maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, repairs and upkeep, and coordination of maintenance projects. The officer will work with other staff and students to ensure that the physical learning environment supports the School's educational objectives.

Other items specifically but not limited to:

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment;
  • Perform quality preventative and corrective maintenance work and other tasks that do not require a licensed tradesperson;
  • Maintain school grounds and gardens;
  • Set up furniture and amenities for events on school premises;
  • Assist all staff, as well as other users of school facilities as required;
  • Traffic management and on occasions assist driving the School bus.

What we're looking for

  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012, prior to employment.
  • High School Certificate or equivalent; additional certification in a trade (such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry) is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, building.
  • LR or MR license is desirable or willingness to obtain this license.
  • Good physical condition and strength, capable of lifting heavy objects and performing a wide range of physical tasks.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with other staff and external contractors.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance calls outside of normal working hours, as needed.
