Shop Assistant - The General

7am - 6pm Daily

The Role

The Shop Assistant is responsible for serving customers, restocking shelves, rotating stock, and keeping the store clean and organised. They ensure a positive shopping experience by maintaining product quality, assisting with enquiries, and supporting daily store operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with inquiries, operate the till, process payments, and provide friendly and efficient service.
  • Unpack deliveries and restock shelves, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations and displayed neatly.
  • Follow the First In, First Out (FIFO) method to rotate stock, reducing waste and ensuring older items are sold first.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the store by sweeping floors, wiping surfaces, and keeping shelves tidy.
  • Inspect stock for damaged packaging or expired items and remove them promptly to ensure food safety and quality

Essential Criteria

  • Passion for excellent customer service
  • Previous experience in cook/chef role desired for cook position
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Punctuality
