About the role

Rattler Railway Company Ltd is seeking a skilled Rolling Stock Maintainer to join our team in Gympie, QLD. This is a casual role, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on the maintenance and repair of our historic rail fleet. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital part in keeping our heritage trains running smoothly and safely.

What you'll be doing

  1. Conducting scheduled inspections and maintenance on our rail carriages, locomotives and other rolling stock
  2. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  3. Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with safety regulations
  4. Maintaining detailed records of all maintenance activities
  5. Assisting with the restoration and overhaul of our Heritage rail fleet as required
  6. Perform any and all other reasonable duties as directed by the Senior Manager Infrastructure, consistent with the incumbent's skills, training, and experience.

What we're looking for

  1. Relevant trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or rail engineering
  2. Experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery, rolling stock or similar assets
  3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings
  5. Commitment to delivering high-quality work and upholding safety standards
  6. A passion for heritage rail and the ability to work effectively in a small, close-knit team
