About the opportunity:

Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) is the main access point for clients experiencing or at risk of homelessness throughout Victoria. It helps people prevent and end homelessness by providing accommodation assistance, advice, and referrals for additional support.

IAP Team Leaders will be responsible for supporting the daily client-facing operations of IAP in collaboration with the Coordinator. The IAP Team Leaders will work in a flexible way that responds to changing client presentations and adjusting the service to ensure safety and a quality service to clients within established guidelines and safety controls, and providing direct support to clients as needed.

The role will provide the primary support for IAP staff in their duty work; providing an additional layer of support and enhancing accessibility to secondary consults, coaching and shadowing. The IAP Team Leader will lead by example in working with complex client presentations and responding quickly to escalated client presentations. The IAP Team Leader will act as a mentor to help facilitate and enhance the on-the-job performance of duty work by reviewing duty tasks and practices, and ensuring effective client outcomes.

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Team Leader - IAP will work to support the Coordinator position's focus area and will be responsible for the formal supervision of a small number of staff within their team.

Launch Housing Leadership Framework

At Launch Housing, we believe that leadership is not defined by position or title – but by the mindset you bring and the

actions you take. We also believe that leadership is learnable – that there is a body of knowledge, skills and

dispositions associated with leadership that can be learned.

The Launch Housing Leadership Framework outlines the key expectations and behaviours required for effective leadership at every level. This role is aligned to the Leading Self proficiency level within the framework, reflecting the responsibility to demonstrate professionalism, personal accountability, self-awareness, and continuous development.

This is a permanent part-time (68.4 hours per fortnight) opportunity, initially based in Southbank.

  • Providing support and secondary consultation to IAP Workers through the course of their shifts on Intake and Duty.
  • Lead by example in working with complex client presentations, applying advanced practice knowledge and trauma-informed approaches.
