Springwood Community Kindergarten was established in 1976 and offers an Approved Kindergarten Program for children in the year prior to Prep. We are a single unit, not-for-profit Community Kindergarten that is proudly affiliated with C&K. Our service is led by an experienced, dedicated Director, and we work closely with a Parent Management Committee to support the vision, strategy and operations of the Kindergarten. At Springwood Community Kindergarten, we are passionate about working with families and our community to give children the best start to their educational journey. We believe that children learn best in a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes agency, collaboration and engagement. Our Service Philosophy positions our programs as child centred and play based with a balance of structured elements that are designed to facilitate school readiness.

About the Opportunity We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Early Childhood Teacher to deliver our 5-day fortnight Wongari Group Kindergarten program, providing a high quality, inclusive educational program for up to 22 children. This role is being offered on a temporary part-time basis, providing leave cover for our long-standing ECT, on a 12-month contract from January 2026 until December 2026. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours/fortnight (Thursday, Friday, alt Wednesday), encompassing the following:

  • Hours of work 7.45am to 3:45pm.
  • Contact hours with the children 8:40am to 2:45pm.
  • Additional commitments include staff meetings (twice per Term); Monthly Parent Management Committee meetings (evening); and community engagement initiatives throughout the year eg. Open Day, End of Year Concert.

As a sessional Kindergarten, we are aligned with State Schools and operate during school terms for 40 teaching weeks from January to December. We are closed over school holidays. The successful candidate would be required to be available for the following: Paid Staff Professional Development Day – Friday 23 January 2026 Program Start Date – from Wednesday 28 January 2026 What We Offer Above Award Wage: Enjoy a competitive salary package which will be negotiated with the successful candidate reflecting their skills, experience and qualifications. About You The successful candidate will be community-minded and keen to work collaboratively to support the kindergarten in its pursuit of excellence. The role will require the following key skills and experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills (including computer literacy skills).
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to form ongoing professional relationships with families, colleagues and stakeholders from the service community.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and document quality, play based early childhood programs that balance play based learning and structured elements (e.g. group times) that support school readiness.
  • A current understanding of National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of Educators to deliver high quality programs for children in Early Childhood.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and personal growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and make decisions. The successful applicant will work collaboratively under the guidance of the Director and Parent Management Committee.
  • A professional and collaborative approach to work that includes a commitment to building relationships and supporting the service's positive team culture.
