About the role:
We're looking for a proactive and community-minded Sport & Recreation Officer to strengthen relationships with local clubs, drive participation, and support the sustainable growth of sport and recreation across the City.
The Sport & Recreation Officer plays a key role between the City and local sport and recreation groups. The position supports clubs to grow their capacity, improve governance and access funding, while proactively resolving issues and fostering collaboration across user groups. Working closely with internal teams, the role ensures community sport and recreation needs are considered in the planning and delivery of City facilities. This position also contributes to strategic projects, administers grant programs such as KidSport, and uses data insights to guide evidence-based decision making.
About you:
You're a skilled communicator with a passion for developing the community through sport and recreation. You are the kind of person who can build trust easily and thrives in collaborative environments. You bring experience in community or club development, a strong understanding of the sport and recreation landscape, and the resilience to guide groups through challenges and growth.
You'll also have:
- Knowledge of sport and recreation organisations, related infrastructure and the role local governments play.
- Experience with grants, funding and stakeholder engagement
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Relevant qualifications in Sport & Recreation Management (or similar)
