Our Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation services focus on supporting infants, children, and families with innovative service delivery models tailored to meet the needs of our contemporary community. Our program is evidence-based, family-centered, and grounded in strength-based practice.

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and agile candidate to play a key role in supporting families from the postnatal period to school age. Fostering partnerships that promote optimal health and wellbeing, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the physical, emotional, and social factors affecting families today and experience in implementing innovative strategies to support engagement.

Reporting to the Manager Children, Youth and Family Services, this pivotal leadership role leads approximately 6 direct reports and an overall team of approximately 60 permanent, fixed term and casual staff (38 EFT).

Key responsibilities will include
:

  • Leading a passionate, multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, responsive Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation services.
  • Driving service excellence through effective leadership, evaluation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Building strong partnerships with internal teams and external agencies to support holistic programs and services.
  • Championing child safety, wellbeing, and inclusive practices across all service delivery.
  • Embedding best practice standards within the Maternal and Child Health and immunisation programs in alignment with the relevant frameworks and guidelines,
  • Providing guidance and leadership to the Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation teams, working to ensure that the service meets the high expectations of the community.
  • Consistently achieving professional practise standards and developing efficient and effective systems, working in collaboration with other leaders across the Unit and the wider organisation
  • Fostering a collaborative and a positive culture across the team, the Department and the wider organisation.

Applications are sought from experienced community services professionals with demonstrated leadership experience in Maternal and Child Health and immunisation services. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of child development, family-centred practice, and child safety frameworks, and strong operational and clinical decision-making skills.

Along with a high-level of strategic thinking ability and an enthusiasm for service excellence and collaborative relationships, candidates will bring current national registration as Division 1 nurse or Midwife, with Midwifery and Maternal and Child Health qualifications. The ability to mentor, support, and inspire a team of dedicated professionals is highly desirable.

The role calls for proven expertise in managing teams within a complex multidisciplinary organisation, a high level of political astuteness and exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience in Local Government or aligned public sector organisations would be highly beneficial for this challenging and rewarding role.
