About the Team

When you join the Infrastructure Projects team, you'll join a group of professionals delivering Australia's future rail network. To help grow rail transport in Australia, the team is focused on ensuring the delivery of critical construction projects across the country, including implementation of our $1 billion Network Investment Program that we've developed with the Australian Government. Whether it's designing, building or maintaining crucial rail infrastructure, the team plays a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to improve network resilience and keep the future of freight on track.

About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager Technical Services, the Engineering Assurance Lead will lead the establishment and governance of core project baselines including scope, cost estimate, benefits, technical/design risk, and technical requirement across our Infrastructure Project Portfolio.

This pivotal role ensures that technical requirements are fully understood and consistently applied across all project phases: Feasibility, Development, Detailed Design, Construction, and Commissioning.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implement the engineering, design, and assurance management framework for Infrastructure Projects.
  • Lead Systems Engineering and Systems Integration activities.
  • Oversee Systems Assurance and Requirements Management processes
  • Conduct engineering stage and project stage gate assessments.

What do we want from you?You should possess formal engineering qualifications and at least 10 years' working within a multidisciplinary environment with a proven experience working on rail projects developing systems and engineering process. You should possess a comprehensive working knowledge of technology, standards and procedures for rail systems and services design, testing, and commissioning for major rail infrastructure projects.

Additionally, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status / Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or Victoria (RPEV), and National Engineering Register (NER) credentials-or the ability to obtain them.
  • Proven capacity to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to foster collaboration and obtain cooperation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
