As Manager, Business Controls, you'll support the effective management of risk across Great Southern Bank by embedding strong frameworks, processes and governance. You'll play a hands-on role in identifying and managing risks, supporting compliance with obligations, and ensuring the business is operating within risk appetite.

You'll be a trusted advisor to divisional leaders, working closely with the Risk Management Group, and will have responsibility for delivering practical risk and compliance solutions that enable great customer outcomes and protect the Bank.

This position is open to candidates located in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, offering you the flexibility to work from home two days a week.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of business controls to ensure compliance with obligations and alignment to risk appetite
  • Providing advice and guidance to leaders and teams on the Risk Management Framework, control effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement
  • Monitoring and assessing risks, incidents and compliance breaches, and supporting root cause analysis and remediation activities
  • Coordinating and supporting compliance and obligations management, including policies, standards, and reporting requirements
  • Building risk awareness across the business by partnering with stakeholders and embedding risk management into day-to-day decision making
  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline, automate, and uplift business processes

Do things differently with us
To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in financial services with a focus on risk, compliance or business controls
  • Strong understanding of operational risk and compliance frameworks within financial services
  • Experience in identifying, assessing, and managing operational and compliance risks.
  • Practical knowledge of regulatory obligations relevant to banking and financial services
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and provide clear, practical guidance
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
