About the Roles
CASA is recruiting for both Airworthiness and Senior Airworthiness Inspectors in multiple locations. We seek applications from appropriately qualified Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers from the Mechanical and Avionic streams. Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following aircraft categories:
Rotary,
- Fixed wing general aviation,
- Fixed wing commuter,
- Fixed wing transport.
The vacancies advertised are within Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices. Vacancies exist within both the Regulatory Service and Surveillance teams. In addition to the identified vacancies, CASA seeks to develop a merit pool for these locations and Darwin and Cairns. Please specify in your pitch which location you wish to apply for.
Key Duties
Regulatory Services Positions
Assessment of:
- Initial issue and Significant change to CASR part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisations.
- Initial issue and Significant change to CASR part 42 Continuing Airworthiness Maintenance Organisations.
- Airworthiness aspects associated with Initial and variations of Air Operators Certificates and other operational approvals.
- Initial issue and variations to CAR 30 Maintenance organisations.
- Initial and variation to Systems of Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance Programs and Reliability Programs.
- Various ad hoc airworthiness approvals – Maintenance Controllers, alternate logbooks, life extensions of components, alternate logbooks etc.
- Minimum Equipment Lists.
- Certificate of Airworthiness.
Surveillance Positions
Audit of:
- Domestic and international CASR part 145 and CAR 30 Approved Maintenance Organisations.
- CASR part 42 Continuing Airworthiness Maintenance Organisations
- Industry delegates authorised to issue Certificates of Airworthiness, Special Flight Permits, Minimum Equipment Lists and Systems of Maintenance.
- Airworthiness aspects of Air Operators Certificates and other operational approvals.
Qualifications, Licences and Experience
Airworthiness Inspector
Mandatory
- 8 years of appropriate experience as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME).
- Extensive experience in continuing airworthiness, maintenance management tasks and responsibilities.
- Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 66 license (or equivalent).
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Desirable
- An Australian Class C drivers' licence.
- Knowledge of relevant Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs) and Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs).
- Knowledge of relevant aviation guidance materials and legislative instruments.
- Auditing experience.
Senior Airworthiness Inspector
Mandatory
- 8 years of appropriate experience as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME).
- Extensive experience in continuing airworthiness and the management of maintenance activities.
- In-depth understanding of Australia's Civil Aviation Act 1988, and relevant CASRs and CARs, guidance materials and other legislation.
- Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 66 license (or equivalent).
- Hold or be eligible to hold an Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Desirable
- An Australian Class C drivers' licence.
- Coaching and mentoring of others, preferably in a regulatory environment.
- Auditing experience.
Eligibility requirements
Employment with CASA is subject to conditions prescribed within the Civil Aviation Act 1988 (the Act) and the
CASA Enterprise Agreement. The following eligibility requirements apply to this position:
- At a minimum, prospective CASA employees must undergo pre-employment screening and must be willing to provide the required information to successfully undergo a police record check.
- The position's occupant must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance as required.
- As an employee in a safety sensitive position, perform, or be available to perform, safety sensitive aviation activities, as defined in the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998.
- Undertake and pass a pre-employment alcohol and drug test as part of CASA's Alcohol and Other Drugs Directive and Procedure.
