Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice on Web3 and cross-border financial initiatives, including tokenomics models, decentralized finance (DeFi) integrations, and crypto-related payment solutions .
  • Lead compliance with Australian financial regulations (e.g., ASIC's AFSL/ACL frameworks, AUSTRAC's anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) rules) and international regimes (e.g., MiCA, MAS guidelines) .
  • Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements with global financial institutions, technology partners, and third-party service providers, ensuring alignment with both Web3 innovation and regulatory requirements .
  • Monitor global regulatory trends in Web3, digital assets, and cross-border finance, developing proactive risk mitigation strategies and updating internal policies .
  • Collaborate with product, operations, and business development teams to embed legal and compliance controls into new product launches and international market expansions .
  • Manage legal disputes, engage external counsel when needed, and conduct internal legal training to enhance cross-team compliance awareness .

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia (or equivalent international qualification with Australian legal experience) with 5+ years of in-house or law firm experience in financial services .
  • Deep expertise in Web3 and digital asset regulation, with hands-on experience advising on crypto, DeFi, smart contracts, or virtual asset transactions .
  • Proven track record in international financial services, including familiarity with cross-border regulatory frameworks and multi-jurisdictional compliance .
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and commercial judgment skills, with the ability to balance legal rigor with business objectives .
  • Experience engaging with regulatory bodies (e.g., ASIC, AUSTRAC) and managing compliance for licensed financial services .
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment and communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders . What We Offer
