Join Envoi Specialist Pathologists - a private Histopathology practice dedicated to Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full-time, medical Laboratory Scientist.

Established in Brisbane in 2007, our pathologists have a national and international reputation for provision of excellent service and world-class research. Working closely with referring Gastroenterologists and Surgeons, we aim to enhance the care of patients by providing a timely and accurate pathology service.

Working within a team of 18 full and part-time Scientists, the successful candidate will report to the Practice/ Laboratory Manager, and work closely with Envoi pathologists to provide histological testing services including:

  • All aspects of histology preparation including tissue transfer, microtomy, routine and special staining and immuno-histochemical techniques.
  • Undertaking operational troubleshooting through research, investigation and problem solving.
  • Striving to meet the highest intellectual, technical and efficiency quality standards.
  • Actively promoting and complying with safe and healthy work practices.
  • Liaising with patients/ couriers/ doctors and other medical staff.
  • Work hours are 38 hours per week - Mondays to Fridays, with rotating rosters between the hours of 5.00am – 11.00pm. Occasional on-call weekend work may be required.

The role will suit a candidate who has completed tertiary qualifications in Histopathology laboratory practice and science, or related disciplines.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Working knowledge of histopathology laboratory specimen handling, sampling, preparation, processing and presentation systems;
  • Working knowledge of laboratory protocols, patient care, and NATA/RCPA-QAP accreditation models;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under supervision;
  • Strong interpersonal skills – (both written and verbal communication);
  • Ability to manage own time effectively - organise, plan and prioritise tasks, and work to meet targets and deadlines; and
  • Strong attention to detail.

The candidate will also possess competency in:

  • Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS)
  • Microsoft Office
